Yay yay yay!!!! I finished yet another book again. So far I have read five books. Now have to think of what to read next. -.-
Deepening friendship:
1. Assign top priority to your relationship
2. cultivate transparency
3. dare to talk about your affection
4. learn the gestures of love
5. create space in your relationship
Cultivate intimacy:
1. use your body to demonstrate warmth
2. be liberal with praise
3. schedule leisurely breaks for conversations
4. learn to listen
5. talk freely about your feelings
ways to handle negative emotions:
1. ventilate your ire with your friend rather than with the person who is the irritant
2. get some physical outlet for your aggressions
Getting angry without being destructive:
1. talk about your feelings, not your friend's fault
2. stick to one topic
3. allow your friends to respond
4. Aim for ventilation, not conquest
5. Balance criticism with lots of affection
Salvage a faltering friendship:
1. locate the trouble spot
2. apologize when you are wrong
3. check if your neuroses are spoiling your friendship
4. check if you employ old methods of relating that no longer works
5. Check if you have excessive need for approval
Always be ready to forgive for love keeps no records of wrong. People who are rich in their friendships seem to be those who believe in lifelong relationships, who stay with their companions through thick and thin, who weather the dry spells. Loyalty is an essential ingredient to lifelong friendships. Lastly, it is possible that you have developed some rough edges which complicates your relationships and get you into trouble, but at the core you are fully capable of loving and being loved. :)
